General

What exactly does UniBiz Compliance Services do?

We manage Indian regulatory compliance end-to-end — from BIS, BEE, WPC, FSSAI and ISO certification to EPR, DGFT trade registration, PESO approvals, trademarks and digital signatures. Instead of coordinating with multiple consultants, you work with one team across every domain your business needs.

Who is UniBiz Compliance Services part of?

UniBiz Compliance Services Pvt. Ltd. is part of Zeal Quality Certifications, and operates under the principle of “Excellence in Quality and Compliance.”

Do you work with businesses outside Delhi?

Yes. While our office is in New Delhi, we provide pan-India service — most documentation, testing coordination and filing can be handled remotely, with in-person visits arranged where an inspection requires it.

Can you help foreign manufacturers sell in India?

Yes — this is a core part of our work, including BIS FMCS (Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme), import documentation, and coordinating in-country compliance requirements for overseas manufacturers entering the Indian market.

Services & Certifications

How do I know which certifications my product needs?

It depends on your product category, whether it’s manufactured domestically or imported, and which regulatory bodies apply (BIS, BEE, WPC, FSSAI, etc.). Share your product details through our contact form and our team will map the exact requirements for your specific case.

What’s the difference between BIS CRS, ISI and FMCS?

CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme) covers electronics and IT products; the ISI mark applies to a broader set of goods under quality standards; FMCS is specifically for foreign manufacturers seeking BIS certification for products made outside India. Which one applies depends on your product and manufacturing location.

Is ISO certification mandatory in India?

Generally no — ISO certification is voluntary, though certain tenders, government contracts, and clients may require it. We offer both IAF-accredited and Non-IAF standards depending on your goals.

Which businesses need EPR registration?

Producers, importers and brand owners dealing in e-waste generating products, plastic packaging, batteries, used oil, tyres, rubber or metal typically need EPR registration under the relevant category. We help identify which EPR obligations apply to your specific product line.

Do you offer testing services directly?

We coordinate testing through NABL/ILAC-accredited labs for electrical, mechanical, EMI/EMC and other product categories, managing sample submission and report collection on your behalf.

Process & Timelines

How does the certification process work with UniBiz?

Four stages: Consult (we map exactly what your product/business needs), Document (we prepare and verify every filing), Test & Certify (coordination with labs and authorities through to approval), and Renew & Track (we monitor validity and manage renewals).

How long does a typical certification take?

It varies significantly by certification type — some registrations complete in a few weeks, while others involving lab testing or physical inspection can take a few months. We’ll give you a realistic timeline estimate specific to your certification once we understand your requirements.

What documents do I need to get started?

This depends on the certification — typically business registration documents, product specifications or test reports, and authorization letters. Your assigned case manager will give you a precise, certification-specific checklist after the initial consultation.

Can I track the status of my application?

Yes. Your dedicated case manager provides proactive status updates at each stage, so you always know what’s been filed, what’s pending, and what’s needed from your side next.

What happens if an application is rejected?

Because every filing is checked internally before submission, rejections are minimized. If an authority does raise an objection, we handle the clarification or resubmission directly with them on your behalf.

Pricing & Payments

How much does certification cost?

Costs depend on the certification type, product category, testing requirements and government fees involved. We provide a detailed, itemized quote after understanding your specific requirement — there’s no one-size-fits-all number.

Are government fees included in your quote?

We itemize government/statutory fees separately from our service charges in every quote, so you can see exactly what goes to the authority versus what covers our documentation, coordination and liaison work.

Do you offer payment in installments for larger projects?

For multi-certification engagements, staged payments tied to project milestones can typically be arranged — discuss this with your case manager during the quotation stage.

Is the initial consultation really free?

Yes — the initial consultation to identify which certifications you need and provide a cost estimate is free of charge.

Renewals & Compliance

How does UniBiz track my certification renewals?

Every certification you hold through us is logged against its validity period. We reach out well ahead of expiry to begin the renewal process, so approvals stay continuously valid without you having to track dates yourself.

What happens if a certification lapses?

A lapsed certification can mean your product or business is no longer compliant to operate or sell — potentially halting sales or triggering penalties depending on the regulation. This is exactly why our renewal-tracking process exists — to prevent that situation.

Can UniBiz manage certifications I obtained elsewhere?

Yes — we can take over tracking, renewal and ongoing compliance management for certifications originally obtained through another consultant or in-house.

Do regulations change often, and how do you stay updated?

Indian regulatory requirements are updated periodically through government notifications and gazette orders. Our team monitors updates across BIS, BEE, FSSAI, MoEFCC, DGFT and other authorities, and proactively flags any change that affects your existing certifications.

Documentation & Eligibility

Do I need an existing company to apply for certifications?

Most certifications require a registered business entity (proprietorship, partnership, LLP or private limited company). If you haven’t incorporated yet, we can also assist with company registration as a first step.

Can startups apply for the same certifications as larger companies?

Yes — the certification requirements are generally based on the product or activity, not company size. We also help eligible startups obtain Startup India (DPIIT) recognition, which can bring additional benefits.

What’s needed for a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)?

Typically identity and address proof of the applicant, a passport-size photograph, and organizational documents if it’s being issued for a company. We handle the application and provide the DSC with a USB token.

Do you sign an NDA or keep our documents confidential?

Yes — client documentation is handled confidentially, and we’re happy to sign an NDA for engagements where you’d like that formalized.
